WeTransfer’s company retreat in Tuscany: 5 days to recharge, reconnect and realign

A change of scenery. A chance to reconnect.

Sometimes, the best way to move forward as a team is to get away from the everyday.

That was the idea behind WeTransfer’s five-day company retreat in Tuscany: bring 35 colleagues together, step away from their usual routines, recharge their batteries and create space to reconnect and realign as a team.

The destination? A private estate along the Tuscan coast, surrounded by Mediterranean nature, with safari tents just steps from the beach.

Five days of sea, shared experiences and time together, away from the usual distractions.

The brief: somewhere by the sea, with room to breathe

WeTransfer was looking for more than a place to stay.

The goal was to create an environment where the team could slow down, spend quality time together and return with renewed energy and a stronger sense of connection.

The brief was straightforward: a coastal destination in Italy, comfortable accommodation for 35 people, meals throughout the stay and opportunities to share experiences as a group.

We helped turn that brief into a five-day retreat in Maremma, one of Tuscany’s most beautiful stretches of coastline.

A thousand hectares of nature, just steps from the beach

The setting was anything but an ordinary corporate retreat venue.

A private estate spanning over 1,000 hectares, where Mediterranean scrub, dunes and pine forests meet the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Instead of traditional hotel rooms, the team stayed in safari tents nestled in nature, many just a short walk from the beach.

And this wasn’t exactly roughing it. Each tent came with a proper bed, air conditioning, a private bathroom and its own veranda. All the charm of sleeping outdoors, with the comfort of a boutique hotel.

The kind of place where mornings start with the sound of the sea rather than another notification.

From beachfront aperitivo to meaningful time together

Of course, the retreat wasn’t just about the destination. It was about what happened when everyone got there.

Five days gave the team something that’s often missing from everyday working life: time to connect beyond meetings, deadlines and screens.

One of the moments that brought everyone together was a beachfront aperitivo, with the team gathering by the sea, drinks in hand, enjoying the Tuscan coastline.

No formal agenda, no meeting rooms. Just colleagues catching up, sharing conversations and enjoying a different side of being part of the same team.

Between shared meals, moments by the beach and time to unwind, the retreat created opportunities for the kind of informal connections that are harder to build in a regular working week.

How we organised it

Always Friday turned the brief into a five-day programme: the private estate in Maremma, accommodation in safari tents, meals throughout the stay and the beachfront aperitivo.

A dedicated event manager coordinated venue, suppliers and logistics as a single point of contact, with one invoice at the end.

More than a change of location

A company retreat doesn’t always need a packed agenda to be valuable.

Sometimes, creating the right setting for people to step away, recharge and spend time together is what matters most.

For WeTransfer, the intention was simple: give the team five days to reset, reconnect and realign before returning to their everyday work.

And with the Tuscan sea just a few steps away, it was a pretty good place to do exactly that.
